The Sliding Doors Pavilion: A Community Hub in Nuglar-St. Pantaleon

The story of the "Pavillon of the Sliding Doors" began with a proactive initiative from the local youth in Nuglar-St. Pantaleon, Switzerland. These young individuals, brimming with vitality and creative ideas, sought a dedicated sanctuary for their gatherings. Their previous attempts to congregate in various village spots often led to disagreements with other residents who found their activities disruptive.

Responding to this need, the architectural firm Piertzovanis Toews designed this innovative pavilion, completed in 2025. Covering an area of 15 square meters, the structure is a harmonious blend of wood, glass, and steel, providing a robust yet inviting space. This project, born from an open letter to the local town council, successfully transformed a communal challenge into an opportunity for architectural and social innovation. It stands as a testament to how thoughtful design can resolve social issues and foster a more inclusive environment.
